What Shampoo Is Best For Me?

Ah yes... the age old question I get almost daily.

Have you ever strolled the Shampoo aisle at Target or Sephora feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, and stressed— reading the back of labels and franitcally texting your hair stylist,

is this good enough for my hair?”

I think we have all been there. Let me start off by saying this isn't going to be me trying to sell you on a shampoo…I actually have multiple favorite brands for a variety of reasons!

color treated hair

If this is you, sulfates are NOT your friend! Finding a sulfate *free* shampoo is vital to your hair's existence, sounds dramatic but hey, I'm not lying.

Here are some of my favorites to consider according to your hair type or hair goals —

thick, coarse hair

I love the Moroccan oil hydrate line followed by their Curl Creme. It is the perfect weight for this hair type and helps strengthen and renew your natural hair!

If you are a curly girl, I recommend the Amika Curl Corps Cream!

medium to fine hair

The Pureology Hydrate Sheer line is a great option and is my personal choice for my hair! It's lightweight, hydrating, and provides immediate softness + shine! I've used it as my go to shampoo in the salon for the past three years and my clients loveee it!

damaged hair

Do you need to call 911 because your hair is falling out? Look no further than K18!

The key to repairing damaged hair is simple: reduce heat, reduce friction, and hydrate hydrate hydrate! The K18 Repair Line does a fabulous job at repairing the hair from the inside out in just minutes. The patented peptide technology works to repair damage from bleach, color, chemical services, and heat, restoring strength, softness, smoothness, and bounce to hair. I strongly suggest this for the girl who has sun or bleach damage from the summer…or maybe you just want a little extra TLC…

journey of growth

I have been on the journey of growing out my hair from my recent impulse chop for the past two years, and my secret is the Redken Extreme Length Shampoo! I noticed results within the 6-10 week mark and was so impressed (make sure you take a before photo to track progress!). It not only helped with length but overall density and health of my hair too.

*TIP FOR GROWTH: I minimized my shampooing to twice a week and alternated between the Pureology Shampoo from above and the Redken Extreme Length. The BEST thing you can do for growth is to leave your hair alone… don't use a lot of heat, minimize days between shampoos, and have a solid post shower routine…(more on that later!)

I do want to encourage you to INVEST into your hair care routine. Even if it's a slow transition…one product at a time. Your hair will thank you as you find yourself being low maintenance in your day to day hair care routine by just investing in good quality products!

Most women spend $100+ on getting a haircut or color service done. Why go home and throw away the state the artist worked hours to get your hair to? Your color will last way longer if you use the correct products. I see it everyday with people using cheap products on expensive hair. Invest. It's worth it every time.

Maybe you're reading this and thinking “ no way i can spend $50 on shampoo…” I get it, but once you do you'll begin to realize the $50 bottle last about 6 months when your $10 bottle lasts about 1-2 months. Its an upfront investment but in the end its saving money and your hair.

Always reach out to me for any questions you may have. I'm always happy to be a resource for hair tips!

xx your friend, Madison
